"I couldn't play Thor if I didn't get as jacked up as I get. An enormous part of playing him is his physicality, and unless I can believably look the part of a berserker, I might as well fuck off. I'm naturally a lot slimmer. I have to eat a diet of egg whites and chicken breast when I'm preparing for one of the movies, which is horrible. When I do shirtless scenes, I've learned a trick which is to not eat or drink at all for the day before shooting, and then right before, you drink a lot of soft drink and do about two hundred sit ups. It makes your muscles taut and you look especially ripped. Things like that change how you look at the human body. It's now apart of my work ethic, to be as large as possible and trying to get up there in a way that won't permanently fuck me up."

I’m afraid I haven’t been fully honest with you. (x)
"Getting the tone of the film right was important for all of us. The film walks a tight rope between action and horror and comedy, and it all hinges on my character. We did many takes of each scene, trying to decide how dark and how charming David should be. It was like a dial between 'creepy' and 'charming.' Each take, I'd play with the ratio and try something new until we got to the right balance. In the end, it's a movie that I found right in line with my sense of humor. Dark and slightly morbid." -- Owen Dampier

When asked how it was to perform on SNL: "It was out of my comfort zone but really great. It helped to have a good deal of alcohol after and a supportive cast who kept flattering me. I could have gone without the groping, but I'm a professional."
